You have eight premolars in your mouth, each of them works in tandem with your front teeth to help bite off food, as well as working with your molars to grind. When one of them is lost to severe tooth decay or a dental trauma, it can significantly hamper your overall oral function.

Over the course of time, the structural void left by the missing premolar can also cause the surrounding teeth to gradually drift out of alignment. When this happens, you are increasingly susceptible to problems with enamel attrition and dental fractures on the corresponding teeth in your bite pattern.

One highly-effective method for restoring a missing premolar and preventing further complications is to have dental implant restoration performed at Moore Dental Services. This can often be done in a single outpatient appointment, where you will be sedated. Afterward, someone will need to drive you home while your senses clear.

To install the dental implant, your oral surgeon will drill a small channel into the bone. Then a titanium implant is screwed into place. It will eventually fuse to the surrounding bone tissues, creating a very strong anchor point for an eventual crown.

If you live in the Florence, Kentucky, area and you’ve lost a premolar, you should call (859) 525-0507 to set up a restoration consultation with our dentists, Drs. Moore and Moore.
